“Receiving an honorable mention from Homiens has been an immense joy and a profound validation of my work as a sculptor. In the day-to-day creative process—made up of silent effort, study, and long hours in the studio—it’s not always clear what impact one’s work can have. The Homiens Art Prize’s unrestricted and non-acquisitive cash awards are an amazing form of support, but even beyond that is their commitment to affording artists all around the world access to a network made up of public institutions, collectors, curators, and practitioners. In my case, this network and exposure is more valuable than almost any bank note because it is through these connections that an artist can establish a longstanding, successful career.
