Artist Profile William Josephs Radford

Artist Statement

White Knight is a poignant visual exploration of love, loss, and memory following my father’s passing from a brain tumor. Created entirely without Photoshop, I utilize a vaseline-coated lens to blur the lines of reality, reflecting the cognitive fog that characterized his final months and evoking the sensation of looking through tear-filled eyes. The red and blue color palette symbolizes the complex interplay between life and death, while carefully selected objects serve as reminders of his presence, emphasizing themes of fragility and remembrance. In addition to the vaseline technique, I employ methods such as lens masking, light painting, ghosting, and other experimental approaches to convey the idea of passing over to the other side.
