Artist Statement

Sometimes I wonder — what if wild animals secretly dream of soft blankets, Netflix nights, and the quiet joy of being home? This painting is my way of answering that: with five cheerful alpacas snuggled up under one fabulously fluffy faux-fur blanket. Each of them has its own personality — one sticks out their tongue, another grins mischievously — but together, they radiate warmth and playfulness. I wanted this piece to feel like a hug. It’s a celebration of coziness, humor, and our shared need for comfort — no matter the species. The faux fur adds a tactile layer that invites you to touch, smile, and imagine the softness of alpaca life. Which alpaca feels closest to your heart?

Artist Biography

VICTO is a Brooklyn-based contemporary artist known for her tactile mixed media works that blend realism, humor, and emotional depth. Her practice fuses traditional oil painting with unexpected textures—such as faux fur and fabric—to create playful, intimate scenes that explore the human condition through subtle storytelling. Originally from Russia, VICTO has exhibited internationally at major art fairs including Affordable Art Fair NYC, The Other Art Fair (Brooklyn and Los Angeles), and during Art Miami Week. Her works have been featured in curated international art books and were recently presented in a U.S. museum group exhibition. As a mother of two, she approaches art as both a personal and collective form of resilience. Her recent works explore canvas painting, sculptural surfaces, and emotionally expressive animal portraits as metaphors for human experience. Through her art, VICTO invites viewers to find beauty in fragility, absurdity in stillness, and strength in vulnerability. Each piece becomes part of a larger narrative about belonging—whether to nature, to memory, or to one another.
