Artist Statement

“A moment in time is truly lived if we fully cherish the charm it holds. Each transient moment has a unique beauty waiting to be embraced only if we pay attention without distractions. In our ever so busy lives, we often forgot this.” This painting inspires viewer to allow a moment of pause to absorb the beauty it holds and its surroundings, reminding us the importance of slowing down and quiet observation.

Artist Biography

I am a self-taught mixed media artist whose work embodies resilience, gratitude and embraces the quiet beauty found in life’s impermanence and imperfection. A cancer survivor, my deep bond with art began in 2019, minutes after my stem cell transplant, when I painted my first abstract piece. Later that day, a nurse remarked that it resembled a cell—an unexpected connnection.

Born in India, I have lived in countries such as Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. My travel stories and the nuances of the cultures I’ve experienced have broadened my perspective and shaped my art over the years. For example, the Japanese reverence for impermanence – Ichigo Ichie, cherishing each moment as unique and unrepeatable – taught me humility and appreciation for the transient nature of things. This has encouraged me to be more present and make intentional choices. My process mirrors the same: As a strong base, I use scrap paper which symbolizes resilience. The thinned paint poured over the base, layer by layer, leaves beautiful marks behind – a testimony of motion and memory of the delicate unrepeatable moment.

The finished piece is thoughtfully shaped to draw viewers into a moment of pause, feeling, and rediscovery.
