Artist Biography

I began my art career in high school with two years of correspondence coursework through Art Instruction, Inc., Minneapolis, Minnesota. My first job after graduation was as a Medical Illustrator for the University of Minnesota, where I created slides with drawings, pen and ink illustrations, charts, and graphs. I also illustrated a book on Oral Surgery, made wax models of patients faces, and then painted the plaster molds for displays. I then worked at a stained glass studio in Minneapolis, painting and staining glass for church windows. I graduated from New York University with an Associate’s degree in Applied Science plus additional credits towards a Bachelor’s degree. I have worked in many different mediums: Pencil, charcoal, watercolor, pastels, and acrylics. I have also worked on many surfaces: Wood, paper, glass, china, and canvas. I have taken classes from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Parsons School of Design, and adult evening classes with two portrait painters. I am a juried member of The Oil Painters of America and a new member of The Buffalo Society of Artists, as well as The American Impressionist Society. I am currently retired and back to the painting that I love.
