Artist Biography
Painting has become the lens through which I carefully digest the world…and the urgent process I employ to convey it.
My life’s landscape has turned on its axis: sterile office building to untamed garden, scorching Texas pavement to Connecticut’s leafy shores. Painting has given me permission to notice it all, to recognize the forgotten and to discover the overlooked.
For the painter, a stoplight’s inconvenience affords understanding of the way light travels through tree branches. Even in the most mundane moments, nature provides subject for exploration and amplification: the composition of a perfect view, the repetition of a surprising detail, the articulation of vivid colors.
Through my restored perspective, this work seeks to reflect natural elements from images I capture, or to interpret them as they echo in my recollection.
Daily, I rush to my easel to celebrate what I’ve noticed. With humility and hope, I invite viewers of my work to experience the same.
