Artist Statement

I find joy living in the high desert. The sunlight, the color, the unusual plant life, and the diversity of the wildlife, taps into the fundamental aspects of the human experience and the intrinsic connection we have with the natural world regardless of the language we speak.

I am also fascinated with the future and what the possibilities are in our ever-changing technological world. I have married my sense of wonder and awe that nature evokes with the newest creative tools that technology provides me by painting with pixels.

It can take many days to compose the scene, taking individual photos or my own original art, and putting them together in a way that looks like they were always meant to be together. Once I have this piece, I may use pixels to paint extra elements in to the scene. Then I run the composition through a series of art filters. Finally I take the composition and play with the colors.

Each piece is a discovery with its own unique emotions. My goal is to achieve clarity in a single moment in the desert. I humbly attempt to provide an escape from the stresses of daily life with the joy of art.

Artist Biography

While attending the University of Washington, Theresa worked as a graphic artist. That part-time job turned into a full time career, as she rose from artist, to editor, to publisher. After retiring from publishing, she and her husband moved to their home in Tucson, where she writes an art column for the Oro Valley Style Magazine.

She has also served as president of Southern Arizona Clay Artists. With this organization she spearheaded “Arts from the Attic” — a fundraiser to raise money for arts education for children. She is also a member of the Southern Arizona Arts Guild and serves as the chair of their PR/Advertising committee.
