Artist Statement

My work follows a personal narrative and the experiences of the Caribbean diaspora in the United States. My paintings feature the values that are shared amongst the Caribbean / West Indian communities, and how we navigate this foreign landscape called the United States of America, with much adaptation and attempts to assimilate to the American way. We fail to give up our identity as West Indian, but succeed in merging our cultural identity with adjacent collaborating migrant cultures that make up the United States of America.
