December 21, 2023 – February 29, 2024

We are delighted to release this online exhibition, which brings together accomplished works by Britt Fabello, Tianyang Jiang, Emmette Lewis, Jacqueline Staikos, and Scott Urquhart. These artists have been moved to examine physical, and meditative landscapes through refreshingly honest, and tactile modes of documentation. They are artists navigating tradition, and approaching narratives of experience, and of youth, through an invigorating engagement with vibrant, and contemporary shapes.

Britt Fabello is an east coaster currently living and working as an artist in Los Angeles, California. Fabello’s work thoughtfully explores inward and outward energy as a reflective being. Using emotionally drawn inner releases and nods to environmental forms, the work intentionally slows the creative process down to inspire a meditative practice.

Emmette Lewis

Born in British Columbia, Canada
Lives and works in Ontario, Canada

Emmette is a South African and Canadian multidisciplinary artist, now based in Toronto, Ontario. She was raised in an artistic household, with both her father and aunt being painters. Growing up in British Columbia, Emmette’s work took inspiration from the natural haven of nature that is B.C. and harmonized this with the traditional stylistic practices of South African art; leading her to utilize obscure materials and recycled resources in her paintings. During this period, she took courses at Emily Carr University before moving to Toronto and completing her Honors BFA at York University circa 2023. Through her involvement with Toronto’s eccentric arts scenes and its underground subcultures, Emmette’s work has adapted from expressionist portraiture and figurative abstract paintings, to contemporary works of environmental commentary and eco-preservation.
